Aircraft design engineering
Josh Ross, owner of R.E.C. spent 19 years at Boeing as a lead engineer on the 787-8/-9, Aerion AS2, and the 767 and 777.
On the 787-8 and -9 I engineered the wing center section and integration with the landing gear bay, outboard wing. I have a deep understanding of stage B composite pre-preg, titanium, forgings, and aluminum machining.
I lived in Japan for three years coordinating engineering between Everett WA designers and Fuji Heavy Industries who manufacture the center wing box. I also worked in Moscow on the 787 lightning protection test box and other projects with Korean Aerospace Industries.
Patent US-20160176500 for Stiffened Composite Panels on the 787-9/-10 models was awarded to me in 2018. I also won Boeing’s Special Invention Award in 2014 for the same patent.
I held various other roles including structural technology integrator on the AS2 wing where I received a second patent, US-20250198447, Special Projects stress analyst on the 777X spars, performing bird strike analysis, systems integration, 767 & 777 family strut and pylon lead engineer, sustaining two aircraft fleets in the factory and in service.
civil/residential engineering
Josh spent two years, as a stress engineer in Boeing Tooling Core team analyzing large factory structures.
He analyzed fixed and movable steel and aluminum tooling to IBC and SAE code requirements. The analysis was performed according to the Aluminum Design Manual (pub ASCE) and the Steel Construction Manual (pub AISC) among others.
Josh received my PE license in 2013 and I am licensed in WA and TX.
Josh has engineered residences in Texas and Washington.
